Country music superstar Keith Urban has as much sartorial sense as anyone in the genre, so we're pleased as punch to see him rockin' our John Van Hamersveld Indian tee during this Pepsi Smash video on Yahoo Music.
But what about you? Feel like showcasing your own rock 'n' roll style? Post a pic of yourself in full-on rock mode on our Facebook page and you'll be eligible for a FREE T-shirt.
We think Tori Spelling looks cool and brainy and rather dishy in our John Van Hamersveld Indian tee, and so does Celebrity Style Guide, which saw fit to remark on both the garment and the wearer in a recent post.
We also like the fact that she wore the shirt in the "Here Come the Grooms" episode of her series "Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood." You can check out a clip here, in which Tori serves as event planner for the Palm Springs commitment ceremony of the show's two "guncles."
And how about those vision boards, eh?
If you'd like to get the guncles a belated gift to celebrate their tying the knot (inasmuch as California's confusing legal landscape now permits), may we suggest a matched set of our new Peter Cook/Dudley Moore Derek and Clive tees, available at a 25% discount until Aug. 5? Or perhaps Nudie's Rodeo Tailors (also on sale), the JVH Butterfly or Debbie Harry Camp Funtime? Just a thought.
We know it: budgets aren't bulging. Pursestrings are tight. Cabbage is ... um ... not as crunchy? Let's not belabor the financial slang any further. The point is this: in a mad economy, only the mad survive.
Hence our May Madness sale, a wild respite from reason wherein we offer 25% off four splendid Worn Free designs: I'm Not Johnny Ramone, John Van Hamersveld Skater, Debbie Harry L.A.M.F. and Dee Dee Ramone Snake Farm.
This lunatic low price includes free shipping, just to add a final dizzy spin to the whole insane escapade.
Our first featured tee: The JVH Skater.
Designed in 1964 -- well ahead of the national skateboard craze -- by visionary graphic artist John Van Hamersveld, the skater tee is an iconic treasure and a tribute to the first-wave of sidewalk surfers.
Pick it up today and you can skate off with a 25% discount and free shipping; just enter the coupon code MADMAY at checkout.
So put that in your half-pipe and smoke it.
Happy St. Patrick's Day.
If you're reading this a day or two before the actual holiday and wondering why we're celebrating a bit early, well, feast your eyes on some very rock 'n' roll ways to wear the green this year:
That's right, our John Van Hamersveld Crazy World Ain't It, Frank Zappa Rental and Iggy Pop Dublin Sound shirts -- in Irish-appropriate green only -- are all on sale for a mere $35 until March 20. Just enter coupon code "Slainte" when you check out.
So get your Irish up in style, and have something green you can wear all year 'round.
And while you're celebrating St. Patrick's Day, why not enjoy some Irish-flavored rock 'n' roll? We recommend a green mix of Van Morrison, The Pogues, Thin Lizzy, U2 (we just heard a track from the new one that's freakin' brilliant), The Boomtown Rats, Stiff Little Fingers and Black 47. Oh, and take it easy on the Guinness; we don't want YOU looking green.
Rodney on the ROQ. Mayor of the Sunset Strip. Friend, publicist, confidante, onscreen chauffeur and/or music/style maven to the likes of Sal Mineo, Brian Wilson, Sonny & Cher, Linda Ronstadt, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Iggy Pop, the Ramones, Blondie and so many more. The guy who brought glam to L.A. stages. The guy who brought punk to L.A. radio. Proprietor and host of the famed English Disco. The man whose booth at Canter's Deli is a local landmark.
Rodney Bingenheimer is all of these and more, but in Los Angeles he is primarily known as one of the last true radio guys -- someone who plays what he loves (on his weekly three-hour KROQ block, a veritable institution), even if it was recorded mere hours before airtime. As the years passed and most of his peers began programming whatever the chain owners and focus groups commanded, Rodney continued to follow his (usually impeccable) instincts. He was the first to spin not only the Germs, X, Blondie, the Go-Go's and Social Distortion, but also Van Halen, Duran Duran, Oasis and Offspring.
So we relish the opportunity to salute Rodney on this blog -- not just for being the first DJ to play so many bands we love, but for keeping alive the spirit of musical independence.
Here he is with his beloved GTO, modeling our John Van Hamersveld Crazy World Ain't It tee. And yes, Rodney, it's a crazy world where ALL radio doesn't follow your lead. But we're sure glad we can tune in to your frequency.
Viva Italia!
You may recall our prior dispatches about the appearance of WF shirts in international crime thrillers; it's time for an update.
We think you'll agree that if you're going to go about stopping La Cosa Nostra, you might as well look cool doing it. Well, the cast and crew of the forthcoming Italian flick Squadra antimafia (due to air on Canale 5 early next year) understands this all too well.
On a stakeout? Why not dress up that look with a bit of bling, some badass shades and our John Van Hamersveld "skull tongue" tee?
Just hanging out and observing the wiseguys? We suggest being conspicuous in your inconspicuousness by donning some fierce catwalk specs and our '77-style Debbie Harry "Punk" shirt.
Busting in on the bad guys, commando-style? You'll want to be attired in no-nonsense camo pants accented with an official law enforcement-esque blue windbreaker over WF's Joan Jett Turner's on the Strip tee. It says you're not to be trifled with, but you know how to party. And that's exactly what they need on the Squadra antimafia.
But before we say "ciao" to this sexy, stylin', boot-shaped land, we refer you to some Italian rock, courtesy of Euro-heartthrob Luciano Ligabue.
As you'll observe in this romantic clip for Ligabue's "Il Centro del Mondo," this band loves them some comfy, oh-so-chic WF shirts. The cutting is quick, but perhaps you'll notice a couple.
The raunchy new comedy Strange Wilderness, about the inept makers of a wildlife show who embark on a search for Sasquatch in hopes of averting cancellation, stars such stalwarts of farce as Steve Zahn, Jonah Hill and Justin Long -- not to mention a passel of naked girls, much bong-lighting and a too-close encounter with a turkey. In short, this Adam Sandler-produced romp has everything ... including a couple of killer Worn Free tees.
That's Peter Dante, in the role of designated driver Danny Gutierrez, wearing WF's John Van Hamersveld Cowboy shirt, which accents his Ed Grimley-esque fauxhawk beautifully. Here he is again, wearing our John Lennon You Are Here tee:
Still not sold on the all-out nuttiness? Check out this special R-rated trailer. But if you're under 17, you must watch it while accompanied by an adult. It's the law, or something.
We're already rhapsodized about Robert Downey, Jr., and the thrill of seeing him in a Worn Free John Van Hamersveld "Crazy World" shirt just as Iron Man was going through the roof.
So imagine how geeked we were to see him on The Tonight Show wearing our sexy, psychedelic Alan Aldridge London shirt, just as his perf in another summer blockbuster, the outlandish action spoof Tropic Thunder, is beginning to collect raves. You can check out the first part of the segment here:
Downey tells some great stories in his Leno interview, including some hilarious anecdotes about his school days. We're just happy to see him on top of the world, and we hope we can keep supplying him with stuff to wear.
The last thing we'd ever want to do is bother an actor we admire while he's peacefully strolling down the street.
But hey, Oscar-magnet and ultra-charismatic screen presence Cuba Gooding, Jr., doesn't look even remotely distracted in this fortuitous photo. He's ambling around L.A. in a groovy Worn Free John Van Hamersveld butterfly shirt, making this graphic from 1968 -- the year of his birth, we hasten to note -- look as contemporary as could be.
Since we've intruded on his leisure time, we feel obliged to offer a few tidbits about the man's professional accomplishments. You probably know that he snagged an Academy Award for his magnetically passionate perf in "Jerry Maguire." But were you aware that he was nominated for a Young Artist Award in 1985 for a guest appearance on "MacGyver"? Or that, along with the film's entire ensemble, he was nominated for a SAG award for his work in 2007's "American Gangster"?
Did you realize that he earned a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in 2002?
Hey, maybe that's where he's going.
