What T-shirts would you take to a desert island?
That's our super-cheesy way of introducing our latest sale, which affords you nice people a whopping 25% OFF such new designs as Island Records (the magisterial label now celebrating its 50th year); Nudie Cohn (the "rodeo tailor" who made Gram's pot-leaf suit and Elvis' gold-lamé number; among many others), Peter Cook & Dudley Moore (the brilliant Brit comics who brought you "Beyond the Fringe," "Bedazzled" and Derek & Clive); and Meher Baba (the "Don't Worry Be Happy" Indian sage who inspired Pete Townshend).
You can grab any of these wicked tees at the aforementioned 3/4 price until Aug. 5, using coupon code ISLAND.
But don't let this sale sail off into the distance. Order now.
They're all featured on our newest set of designs, kittens!
Nudie, of course, was the tailor from Kiev who revolutionized Western wear with his big-pimpin' designs for Elvis, Gram Parsons, Hank Williams, John Lennon and others. You can celebrate him with WF's faithful repro of the Nudie's Rodeo Tailors T-shirt once sold in his fabled North Hollywood shop.
As for Pete and Dud, we're talking Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, the brilliant British comedy duo without whom we'd likely have no Monty Python, Fry & Laurie, etc. We have a handful of great designs, including "Derek" and "Clive" tees honoring the raunchiest of the pair's alter egos.
"Don't Worry, Be Happy" was a slogan seen on '60s posters of Indian mystic Meher Baba, who inspired acolytes like The Who's Pete Townshend to great spiritual and creative epiphanies. Indeed, the cult of "Tommy" is a sly wink to Baba, as is -- wait for it -- "Baba O'Riley."
And Island? They only brought Jamaican music to the world, mon. We're talking the very first Marley sides, the earliest Jimmy Cliff tracks (and the indispensable "The Harder They Come" soundtrack), the fledgling grooves from Toots and the Maytals, Lee Perry and too many others to name. The label is 50 years young this year, so if you're a reggae lover you'll want the Island Records emblem on your chest. How else you commemorate that anniversary is up to you, but try to do it in a reasonably ventilated area.
Stand by for fabulous offers on all of the above, and plenty more besides. Be the first to know -- sign up for the WF newsletter!
Yeah, we'll make this quick, because we've got to start marinating meat and pre-mixing cocktails:
Every single frickin' T-shirt currently in stock is now on sale
at a staggering 25% off -- with free shipping -- until July 6.
If you're feeling especially in the spirit of the season, you might pick up our Lester Bangs Freedom or Death shirt, in honor of an uncompromising patriotic spirit.
But if you'd rather have a Zappa Radio Clyde, a Kurt Cobain Olympia, a John Lennon You Are Here, a Debbie Harry Camp Funtime or a Gram Parsons Flying Burrito Bros., be our guest. It's all there, all at 25% off. Instead of linking to all these designs, though, we're going to make potato salad. So head over to wornfree.com and see 'em for yourself.
Just use coupon code BBQ when you check out, and hurry up -- this sale will be a smoky post-fireworks memory come the 6th. And have a safe, happy 4th, everyone.
World, we are proud to present Cruz Beckham.
That's right, the pulchritudinous offspring of international media superstars David and Victoria Beckham, seen here cavorting in L.A.'s verdant Coldwater Canyon Park in WF's Gram Parsons Flying Burrito Bros tee, may not be an Angeleno, but he knows as much about living in the spotlight as any red-carpet denizen. So when he was photographed playing among the pine trees, it sent shockwaves through the global pop-culture press.
Here's an interesting question, though: Has anyone sat young Cruz down next to the old stereo and put on a classic recording by the FBBs? We'd recommend "The Gilded Palace of Sin," although several fine compilations exist. Gram Parsons, the force behind the band, called his unique hybrid of country, acid rock, soul and gospel "Cosmic American Music," but clearly the time has come for a new generation of tech-savvy global kids to tune in.

If you've been admiring the wardrobe of Brendan (Reid Scott) on the TBS comedy series My Boys, well, no wonder: the guy's a walking monument to the allure and variety of WF tees.
In the array above, you can see him pictured in our Johnny Ramone Chatterbox tee, Frank Zappa Rental and Joey Ramone Capitol Theatre. TBS has even provided a helpful gallery of Brendan's shirts, with commentary far wittier than anything we could generate here; if you peruse it, you'll also see this TV hunk in our Gram Parsons Flying Burrito Bros. shirt, Frank Zappa Radio Clyde and more.
Frankly, we couldn't ask for a more appealing model. But we like to think these shirts can make anyone look like a sitcom hottie. Slip one on and you'll see.
It's been one hell of a year and we owe it all to you. Worn Free just keeps growing, thanks to our smart and stylish community; it seemed appropriate, therefore, to express our gratitude one last time in 2008 and to wish you a sparkling, safe New Year's celebration.
While we're at it, here are a few recent sightings to round out a smashing year. First a bit of Australian press coverage, namely the Rockland Courier and MX Brisbane:
Crikey, they've been good to us Down Under. Perhaps the rugged independence of our credo resonates with those folks in Oz.
But we're gettin' the love everywhere on the planet, as evidenced by this lovely post on the Glorious Noise blog (thanks, Derek!), a mention on the enigmatic L.A. blog Torr, a shout-out on Coolspotters highlighting the John Van Hamersveld Indian tee and a piece on the Welsh site Altsounds.
Of course, nothing pleases us more to see up-and-coming artists sporting our wares, like L.A. band Lojic, seen here showing off our Gram Parsons Flying Burrito Bros. and (on their interlocutor) Lester Bangs Freedom or Death.
Perhaps they'll be wearing WF attire when they rock Crane's Tavern in Hollywood on Jan. 10 or 14 Below in Santa Monica on Jan. 16.
In the meantime, why not close out the year by expanding your T-shirt wardrobe? You know you want to. Happy New Year, kids.
TBS' comedy series My Boys returns with new episodes tomorrow night. Anticipation is high, due to some serious critical buzz (as they say out here in Tinseltown-adjacent Poserville); signs point to a show that's coming into its own in a big way, with a smart and sexy ensemble vibe that's reminding folks of Friends.
We're happy to hear all this because (1) we love TV and (2) Worn Free shirts are featured prominently on some prime My Boys real estate, namely the torso of Brendan (Reid Scott), a freewheeling DJ whose most prized possession, according to the official site, is his "collection of vintage rock T-shirts."
Our kind of guy. So it's no surprise to see him in, say, our John Lennon Home shirt:
And here he is in a fetching blue Worn Free logo shirt:
And yes, the characters regularly play poker. You can play along at home! Here's another game you can play: Let us know when you see Brendan in a new WF shirt. We'll get you started; if you squint at this pic you'll see he's wearing our striking Gram Parsons Flying Burrito Bros. tee.
So get to watchin' ... we expect your reports.
It will not escape your notice that Brendan, much like another WF devotee in TV Land, Vince (Adrian Grenier) on Entourage, is incredibly handsome and a total babe magnet. Will wearing Worn Free make you madly sexy and irresistible too? Of course it will.
To celebrate the redesign of WornFree.com, we're offering free shipping on all shirts.
Now, a few caveats:
- The free shipping won't last long, so don't dawdle. We hate it when you dawdle.
- You'll still be responsible for any taxes or customs duties your home country (and where do you live, anyway?) sees fit to impose on the privilege of having spectacularly stylish and comfortable couture delivered to your doorstep.
- Clicking on Mischa Barton's picture will not result in Mischa Barton being sent to your home. How many times must we go over this?
OK, we've sent the attorneys packing. Back to the good stuff.
Not only is the new site a bit easier to use, but it showcases several of our newer designs, including the dazzling suite of Queen tour tees (for the polymorphously perverse rock animal in your life), the dashing Ian Dury Taxi, Blockheads and Antigua tees (a treasure for fans of witty punk/new-wave), the saucy Jeff Beck "Oh Yeah" and On the Road Again shirts (manna for guitar freaks), the audaciously erotic Alan Aldridge London (Smile) shirt and the charming Willie Hall Hollywood T-shirt (for classic-soul aficionados and Tinseltown devotees alike).
Of course, you'll be able to find all your favorite John Lennon, Frank Zappa, Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry, Joan Jett, Johnny and Joey Ramone, Gram Parsons, Ian Hunter, Mick Ronson, Steve Marriott, John Van Hamersveld and other tees as well.
And did we mention the free shipping? OK, just checking.
OK, that's a perfectly wretched title. But you know how sometimes you're star-struck early on in life and the feeling never quite goes away? Well, Evan Dando had that effect on us. He wasn't properly celebrated during the peak of his success (with his wonderful band, The Lemonheads, and as a solo artist) partly because of a lot of tabloid stuff surrounding his admittedly hard-living ways but also -- let's be clear -- because suckers envied his talent. The guy was and is just a slammin' songwriter and a really soulful singer. Listen to "It's a Shame About Ray" or "My Drug Buddy" and tell us you don't wish you'd written 'em yourself.
So seeing ol' Evan looking pretty much as good as he ever did, pouring it all out onstage with the Lemonheads and attired in our Gram Parsons Flying Burrito Bros shirt? Pure poetry, especially given the man's avowed fondness for GP and kindred flair for twangy tunefulness. But also because he seems to have pulled himself out of the very abyss that Gram couldn't escape.
The Lemonheads have a new, self-titled disc out; they'll be touring with The Jesus & Mary Chain, and you can catch them at Coachella, among other upcoming mass gatherings.
