Another groovy fashion blog has given us a plug, so we feel duty-bound to return the favor: check out the idilVice FashionRocks blog, which not only says nice things about Worn Free wares but also pairs our tees with their rock 'n' roll skirts for some sexy full-body combos. And who doesn't dig a sexy full-body combo?
For example: Dig the chemistry of our Debbie Harry Punk tee with this groovy Blondie skirt, featuring a glorious repro of the cover pic from the new-wave icons' criminally underrated sophomore album, "Plastic Letters." Cool, eh?
Thanks, FashionRocks. We think you're way hot.
Oh, and before we forget: Keep your eyes peeled for the next Worn Free newsletter, which will hip you to our next mondo-discount sale.
What's that? You say you don't get the newsletter? We're glad you told us first; if this got out your credibility could suffer a mortal blow. Go here, and quickly.
Debbie Harry, Chris Stein and Clem Burke of Blondie are seen here reporting to VH1 at the Brooklyn Museum's "Who Shot Rock and Roll" exhibit; stellar drummer Burke sports our John Lennon You Are Here T-shirt, another little bit of rock history.
Chris Stein performed with Blondie AND exhibited some of his superb photos. Click here to see video from VH1.com. And stop by WornFree.com to see our Debbie Harry and Chris Stein shirts. Blondie, after all, is a group.
Yes, we know the focus has lately been on our Debbie Harry shirts, what with the sale on all Deborah designs through 7/15 (that's this Wed.); that said, we just had to show you this charming photo of singer-songwriter Leah Andreone in our John Lennon You Are Here tee.
Leah's new record, Avalanche, won't be out until Sept. 1, but you can sample her musical wares at leahandreone.com. Suffice to say she's got a killer voice and some truly gripping songs (including one co-written and sung with fellow WF aficionado Dan Wilson, who has rocked the very same design on this here blog).
P.S. If you want a Debbie Harry tee like Punk, Camp Funtime, No Pictures, Vultures, L.A.M.F., etc., hie thee to the Worn Free site and get 10% off by Wed. with coupon code RAPTURE. And stay tuned for news about kids' shirts and brand new designs!
As our Deborah Harry's Birthday Sale nears its close (you have until July 15 to take 10% off all Debbie designs), we present another lively photo op featuring a cool pop personage and a tee originally sported by the Blondie frontwoman,
That's the irrepressible Rikki Rockett of Poison at the mega-rad Decade store in Pittsburgh; he's holding up our Debbie Harry L.A.M.F. tee. You probably won't be suprised to learn that this abbreviation stands for "like a mother f***er," and that it suits Rikki's rock 'n' roll attitude just fine.
So let us celebrate La Deborah with 10% off the price of this shirt as well as Punk, Camp Funtime, No Pictures and the rest. And as always you'll get free shipping.
Just enter coupon code RAPTURE when you check out. But don't delay; every one of these puppies is selling L.A.M.F.
Of course, if you, too, are in Pittsburgh, you can get a ridiculously great deal on all WF gear through July at Decade. Visit their site for details.
Just because our massively successful, fireworks-and-burger-filled 4th of July sale is over doesn't mean you have to stop saving. Just ask Amy Willard of the extremely cool (and aesthetically pleasing) online music mag Barricade Buzz, seen with Justin Richards, Nick Santino and Eric Halvorsen of the band A Rocket To The Moon. Amy's rocking our Debbie Harry Punk tee, one of several designs worn by the Blondie singer and fashion goddess -- all of which are now on sale at 10% off (with free shipping).
It's part of our ongoing Deborah Harry Birthday Sale, which continues through July 15. Just use coupon code RAPTURE at checkout.
But that's not all. Barricade Buzz is actually giving away another of our Debbie shirts (the paparazzi-defying No Pictures), so head on over there and enter to win!
It's Debbie Harry's birthday. And because DH is one of our favorite punk-rock den mothers/glamour visionaries/CBGB intellectuals/dance-music innovators/pop provocateuses of all time, we're offering up all the many Worn Free Debbie designs for 10% off, with free shipping, starting today.
During that time, we'll be spotlighting some of the available designs, such as No Pictures, first modeled by Deb in 1978 and seen on various hipster personages arrayed above. Not to mention Camp Funtime, Punk, Vultures, Berlin, Mick Ronson, L.A.M.F. and more.
We probably don't say this enough, but it bears repeating: WF shirts aren't just beautiful and mysteriously hip. They're also insanely comfortable (full disclosure: I often sleep in mine. TMI? Don't care) and come with a groovy backstage pass-style hangtag that gives you the classic original photo of the artist and backstory on the design. So you're not just buying some Beefy T from the merch wagon. It's something you'll treasure for years.
Now run on over to the Deborah Harry t-shirt page, pick out your fave(s) and claim your discount by entering coupon code RAPTURE at checkout. But don't delay; this offer expires on July 15.
Rodney on the ROQ. Mayor of the Sunset Strip. Friend, publicist, confidante, onscreen chauffeur and/or music/style maven to the likes of Sal Mineo, Brian Wilson, Sonny & Cher, Linda Ronstadt, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Iggy Pop, the Ramones, Blondie and so many more. The guy who brought glam to L.A. stages. The guy who brought punk to L.A. radio. Proprietor and host of the famed English Disco. The man whose booth at Canter's Deli is a local landmark.
Rodney Bingenheimer is all of these and more, but in Los Angeles he is primarily known as one of the last true radio guys -- someone who plays what he loves (on his weekly three-hour KROQ block, a veritable institution), even if it was recorded mere hours before airtime. As the years passed and most of his peers began programming whatever the chain owners and focus groups commanded, Rodney continued to follow his (usually impeccable) instincts. He was the first to spin not only the Germs, X, Blondie, the Go-Go's and Social Distortion, but also Van Halen, Duran Duran, Oasis and Offspring.
So we relish the opportunity to salute Rodney on this blog -- not just for being the first DJ to play so many bands we love, but for keeping alive the spirit of musical independence.
Here he is with his beloved GTO, modeling our John Van Hamersveld Crazy World Ain't It tee. And yes, Rodney, it's a crazy world where ALL radio doesn't follow your lead. But we're sure glad we can tune in to your frequency.
It's a momentous day, people.
What's that? Oh, yes, the new President. That's also great. But we're here to proclaim from the mountaintop that an array of new Worn Free T-shirt designs are now available on our site. So let us offer an invocation of our own.
These include three compelling designs originally worn by the great Rod Stewart: F--- the Art, Let's Rock 'n' Roll, Lamborghini and Scot Lion. We wish our new prez a bit of Rod's fiery passion, cocky good humor and boundless confidence.
We've also got two shirts sported by Joe Strummer, frontman of The Clash: Out of Control and Dragon. Joe exemplified fearless honesty and a commitment to justice in his art; may such virtues flourish in the new administration.
And let us salute an unsung hero of pop, Blondie guitarist and co-songwriter Chris Stein. The man helped build that band's solid infrastructure - we'll need an army of creative engineers like him to refurbish our nation. Enjoy Chris' Goat, Singapore and Super Shark tees.
And while we're at it: two new Kurt Cobain tees -- Sounds Magazine and Olympia -- remind us of the late artist's iconoclastic sensibility. May his spirit of shaking up the status quo yield myriad cultural dividends.
Well be announcing more new shirts very soon. Let Worn-Freedom Ring.
Perez Hilton! We who blog salute you. We can never hope to attain your massive agglomeration of eyeballs, nor to galvanize thousands of e-mail forwards and revenue-slinging click-throughs. We are merely a humble T-shirt blog, hoping to bask in the reflection of your queenly glow.
On the left in this photo you will see Jess, of Aussie band The Veronicas, clad in WF's Debbie Harry No Pictures tee. Jess is rocking the shirt in exactly the way it should be rocked - during a photo shoot at the very epicenter of the celeb-spotting multiverse.
But lest you think this glamorous demimonde too superficial, we direct your attention to Perez's socially relevant shirt message. That's right, we're taking a stand and agreeing with this luminary of the snarkosphere in urging you to vote. Call us controversial.
It's pretty selfless of us to deliver this message; after all, we don't make the shirt he's wearing.
