Randy Jackson: "Idol" Judge, Accessorizer, Zappa-tista
You don't have to be an avid viewer of American Idol to love Randy Jackson. The guy's a gifted musician, a versatile songwriter, a shrewd discoverer of talent and about as much fun to talk about music with as anybody you're likely to meet. But he's also a ridiculously nice guy, which counts for a lot in our book.
So we loved seeing him on air sporting our Frank Zappa Radio Clyde shirt, making sly reference to an artist whose work is far beyond the radar of most Idol contestants.
How, for example, would your average pop warbler respond to FZ's epically filthy Live at the Fillmore East or the prog-symphonic weirdness of Hot Rats, let alone the avant-classical synclavier excursions of his latter years? Indeed, what would Simon, Paula and Kara say? We'd love to know.
We should also note that we've never seen one of our WF tees accessorized quite this way, with a multi-colored medallion necklace.
But you rock it how you like to rock it, dawg.
