Marriott's In
Just because Valentine's Day has come and gone doesn't mean you don't need a nice arrow-through-heart T-shirt. Especially when said shirt's design was once stretched across the mighty chest of Steve Marriott, a true rock god who rocked the mod look better than anyone in the '60s (as the singer of Small Faces, whose "Itchykoo Park" is one of the decade's feel-good anthems) and then rocked the rock thing as well as anybody in the '70s (as the frontman of Humble Pie).
This staggeringly great Brit singer may not be a household name in the States, but he deserves to be. Mojo named him one of the top 100 rock singers of all time. In the U.K., he's a giant, and a massive influence on the styles, sounds and songs of folks like Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher. And if yank revivalists the Black Crowes weren't trying to echo Humble Pie's gutsy roots-rock stomps, it's a hell of a coincidence.
Here he is wearing the heart-and-arrow shirt onstage with Humbe Pie in '74. Dig those pipes.
So have a heart, celebrate Steve, and check out his incredible body of work. You can start here.
